Insurance Europe and the European Youth Parliament’s (EYP) kicked-off the beginning of a series of activities in Thessaloniki this week, aimed at developing an open, transparent and dialogue between young people and the insurance industry.
The agreement was initially launched on the 30 May when the EYP’s executive director, Anya Suprunenko, spoke at Insurance Europe’s 14th International Conference in Helsinki. She commented, “Young people often find it hard to formulate their demands toward the insurance industry. They don’t know enough, it’s too complex, and the language is not youth friendly. This must change for young people to make informed decisions about their future. The EYP is pleased to partner with Insurance Europe: we need more partnerships of this kind, to raise awareness and knowledge’’.
Speaking during the EYP’s 100th International Session in Thessaloniki, Olav Jones, deputy director-general of Insurance Europe said during his speech, “Insurance matters to all of us but a lot more work is needed to explain how it works. This is why I am excited that Insurance Europe and the EYP are working together. We look forward to holding discussions to explain more about insurance, and to hear how the industry can even better cater to the needs of young people and wider society’’.
The partnership will involve a number of activities, including the EYP developing a position on pensions in Europe during its International sessions in Thessaloniki in 2024 and the Hague in 2025. Other activities will involve events and a European-wide survey of young people.
